Drawing with a hand lettering set + review

Drawing with a hand lettering set + review

Watch the video:

Obviously, a hand lettering set is not for drawing, but it does have items in it we can use to draw. This Prismacolor hand lettering set comes with multiple markers and pens. These markers and pens have multiple lengths, thicknesses, and shapes. Along with these markers and pens comes two drawing pencils and a kneaded eraser. This is a perfect beginners hand lettering set… or should I say drawing kit?

I’m not a professional calligrapher, but I do enjoy drawing. That’s why I thought it would be fun to take everything in this hand lettering kit, and use it to draw. How’d it go? I’ll tell you right now…

First of all, here’s what the set looks like and what was in it:

That’s what the set looks like and what was in it. The markers were in great shape and worked great. They didn’t bleed very much; I hardly noticed it.

The pencils (once I sharpened them) were great. They worked fine. They didn’t have an eraser on the top, but I guess that’s what the kneaded eraser is for.

The kneaded eraser worked great also. It erases well and you can bend and form it into any size or shape.

The set looks like it’s in good shape, now it’s time to use it. Although I’m mostly going to be drawing, I though it was only fair to do a little bit of hand lettering. It’s been a little while since I’ve done any type of hand lettering, so you could say I’m at a beginner level. This hand lettering set is for beginners, so I thought it would be perfect. Here’s how my hand lettering turned out:

Everything worked great! I really like how it turned out. The only thing that bugs me is how I did CITYwhich is not the hand lettering set’s fault by any mean. The set worked great! For any beginners, or even professional calligraphers, this is a great set!

The only thing I have to test now is how great it works for drawing. Here we go.

First, I drew the base drawing using the pencils. Next, I went over the base drawing with the pens and markers. Then, I was finished. Simple as that. Here’s what I drew:

As you can tell, the drawings turned out good. The markers and pens made the drawings look sharp and the pencils and kneaded eraser worked great. The set worked great, so I’m going to conclude that this set works great for both hand lettering and drawing!
