How to copy layers in Procreate - how to copy and paste a layer in Procreate
Share
Did you know that you can copy a layer from one of your Procreate projects, and then paste it into another Procreate project? I’m going to show you how to do that in this blog post.
Let’s start with how you copy one layer. You can do this by going to layers, then making sure you’re on the layer you want to copy. This layer should be blue. Then, you’re going to tap that layer. A menu should come up that features ‘Copy’. All you have to do is click ‘Copy’ to copy.
How do you paste a layer? Go to Actions (looks like a wrench in the top, left corner). Go to ‘Add’ on Actions. Then click ‘Paste’. If the ‘Paste’ button doesn’t work and is a darker shade, this means you didn’t successfully copy a layer. You can paste a layer on any project in Procreate, which is how you can take a layer from one project in Procreate and paste it in any other project in Procreate.
Another way to copy a layer is to click the ‘Copy’ button above paste in Actions. This ‘Copy’ will copy your current layer.
How do you copy multiple layers? The only way to copy multiple layers is by copying the canvas. You can do this by clicking ‘Copy canvas’, which is also above paste in Actions.
If you don’t want to select all of the layers of your canvas, I suggest turning off the layers that you don’t want to copy, then copying the canvas. You can turn off a layer by clicking the checkbox that is on it.
This way, you can turn these layers back on at any time, but you won’t copy them when you copy the canvas. That’s the best way that I know of to copy multiple layers at once without copying all of the layers in that canvas.
