How to Add Noise in Procreate

Do you want to learn how to add noise in Procreate? I‘ll show you how to do that in this blog post.

The Procreate noise effect creates a grainy look. I’ve even used noise to create a glittery effect.

To add noise to a layer, click Adjustments. Adjustments is in the top left corner of the Procreate interface; it looks like a wand. Click the wand to evoke the Adjustments menu.

Next, tap ‘Noise’. To apply the noise, drag your finger across the screen from left to right. This will increase the noise. Dragging your finger from right to left will decrease the noise. At the top of the screen, you will see a blue line. This represents how much noise is applied. Above this is a percentage, which coordinates with the blue line. For noise, the top percentage is 300%.

Next to the percentage is a triangle. Click this to choose either ‘Layer’ or ‘Pencil’. Layer means the noise effect will be applied to the entire current layer. Pencil means that whatever you touch with your Apple Pencil will be the area that the noise effect will apply to. Touch areas with your Apple Pencil after you click ‘Pencil’ for it to apply.

At the bottom of the screen is a box featuring noise settings. You may mess around with these settings to affect the feel of the noise, but I won’t get into the exact specifications of these settings.

That’s all! Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this blog post, will join our email list and read our other blog posts. Also, check out our digital brushes for Procreate. One of them is below.
