Here’s an easy, step-by-step approach to add a glowing effect to a part of your drawing in Procreate; and it’s only 3 steps!
Before we continue, are you interested in digital brushes for Procreate? Did you know you can get all of our brushes and brush sets (the ones available now and the ones to come) for only $30? You do this by buying our Gold Membership. Check it out here.
Step 1: Isolate the objects you want to glow
All of the objects of your drawing that you want to glow should be in one layer separate from the other objects of the drawing.
Step 2: Adjustments & Bloom
Next, go to Adjustments (looks like a magical wand in the top left corner). Tap Bloom.
Step 3: Apply and Adjust the Bloom
Slide your finger across the screen towards the right to change the amount of bloom applied to the layer.
At the bottom the screen are three sliders. The transition slider changes the amount of bloom applied to different tones of your drawing. The size slider changes the size and blur of the bloom edges. The burn slider changes the intensity of the bloom. Play with these sliders until you like the effect. The percentage each slider is at depends on what type of glow you’re going for and what the object is that’s receiving the glow.
Tap Adjustments to apply the bloom. If you don’t like the bloom afterwards, you can just tap the undo button.
That’s how to make something glow in Procreate in three simple steps.
