Welcome! In this blog post, I’m going to teach you how to outline an image in Procreate. Outlining a Procreate image is fun and easy to learn how to do.
Let’s get right into it.
The first thing to do when outlining a Procreate image is upload an image to Procreate. To do that, go to the Procreate gallery. Click ‘Photo’ to add a photo, or ‘Import’ if the image is a file.
By adding a photo this way, you’ll create a new canvas in which the first layer is the image you selected.
Next, you want to go to Layers and click the plus sign to add a new layer. This new layer will be the layer you’ll make your outline on.
Now, you want to choose an outlining brush. Choose whichever brush you want. I used a brush I created, called the ‘Outliner’ brush. If you want a brush that is specifically for outlining and creates perfect shapes and smooth lines, this is the brush. I made this brush specifically for outlining. Check it out here.
Now you can start outlining the image. Make sure you are on the layer without the image (layer 2).
When you are done outlining, go to Layers. On the layer with the image (layer 1), look for a little checkbox. Click this to turn off the layer so it isn’t visible. Then, you’ll be able to see the outline.
