How to Create a Color Palette from an Image on Procreate

In this blog post, let me show you how to make a color palette in Procreate from a photo. It’s extremely easy and will take about a minute.

First, let me sum up what a color palette is. A color palette is how you can save colors and create color schemes on Procreate. A palette is made up of swatches that you can fill with colors.

What happens when a color palette is created based off of an image? The palette takes as many colors from the picture as possible, filling the palette’s swatches up. A palette can only hold 30 colors though. This means you probably won’t get all of the photo’s colors on one palette. Because of this, if you create another palette from the same photo, you will get different colors than the first palette.

Now, how do you create a color palette from a photo? Go to ‘Colors’ and click ‘Palettes’. Click the ‘+’ sign in the top right corner of the Color Panel. Then click ‘New from photos’. Select your photo. Then a new palette will appear with the colors from your photo.

That’s all for this blog post!
