How to Blend in Procreate
Share
Blending colors smoothly is an important part of drawing. In this post, I’m going to teach you how to blend on Procreate smoothly.
There are two ways that I’ll teach you to blend in Procreate.
The first way uses the Smudge tool (the Smudge tool looks like a hand in the top right corner of the screen in Procreate). The Smudge tool can blend smoothly, but you’ll need to use a specific brush to do this. My preference would be the Soft Blend brush in the Airbrushing section of the brush library. Now you can use the Smudge tool to blend in a much smoother way.
The second way to blend colors in Procreate has nothing to do with the Smudge tool. Instead, you would use a brush with the Painting tool (the paintbrush to the left of the Smudge tool). This brush is called the Blender.
This brush allows you to smoothly blend with the Paint tool. It’s my personal preference; I think it’s a little bit smoother than Smudge. However, the downside is that you have to buy the Blender brush because it doesn’t come with Procreate.
The Blender is a brush sold by The Creativity City. (You can find it here). NOTE: The Blender brush is also in the Essential Drawing Set for Procreate, so if you have that set or buy it, you don’t need to buy the Blender brush separately.
